The installation “TBA21 Sound Space” is derived from the project “The Morning Line” initiated by Francesca von Habsburg Thyssen-Bornemisza. Originally, the work comprised an architectural object and a loudspeaker installation, and can presently be seen in Vienna, in Schwarzenbergplatz (until June 6, 2012).
In the version as presented at the ZKM, six of the installation’s spaces are simulated by 44 loudspeakers; four small “dome-like” parcels and two portals may be musically experienced in the ZKM_Foyer. Thirty one composers have been commissioned for the project to compose special spatial compositions, among others Leo Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Carsten Nicolai, Terre Thaemlitz, Mark Fell, Rock Jiménez de Cisneros, Florian Hecker, Bruce Gilbert, Ghostigital (Sugarcubes), Peter Zinovieff, Yasunao Tone, Erdem Helvacıoğlu, Christian Fennesz and Chris Watson. Each of the compositions lasts 30 minutes, and will be made audible during the day at the ZKM_Foyer at the following times:
Wed−Fri 10.30 a.m./ 11.45 a.m./ 3 p.m./ 4.45 p.m.
Sat/Sun 11 a.m./ 2 p.m./ 4 p.m.
