“O.R.pheus” enables visitors to carry out unlimited research into the installation spaces alone for a period of thirty minutes. Personal decision-making and chance determine the sequence in which spaces are entered, narrative threads perceived and things initiated. Visitors thereby create their own unique contexts of aesthetic experience and contents. By way of a network of sounds, words and images, the Bunker condenses into a multimedia spatial installation.
Via Augmented Reality, display windows open up into another world: the 1950s are linked to real objects with video game aesthetics and retro-sounds with new music and virtual spaces. In a surreal hospital laboratory situation, images and spatial scenarios come alive in which the visitors are able to play out fragments of a story, and become a part of the whole event. The exclusive venue for a virtual paper chase for one visitor with Smartphone is a bunker at the Munich central station.
“O.R.pheus” questions the use of modern medicine as a transcendent means. The mythological world of Orpheus is set in the present and set in contrast to age, death, body culture and beauty mania, thereby posing novel questions about such transcendent sites as Hades or the Elysium, as well as perdition or the promise of happiness.
