Japanese Computer Sound Sketches :: Karlsruhe-based composer, Reinhold Weber, already began composing computer music in the 1970s. The source of inspiration for those works of the 1990s presented in the concert were the extensive travels the artistic undertook through Japan, China and the USA, and an attentive ear for the way of life in these locations. Mischa Kuball. platon's mirror :: Düsseldorf-based media artist Mischa Kuball is among the few artists who has consistently understood light’s (socio-)political dimensions and used the media accordingly in numerous works and installations. Robert Cahen. Narrating the Invisible :: The French artist Robert Cahen (born in Valence in 1945, lives and works in Mulhouse) is one of the great pioneers and narrators of video art. After studies in composition in the context of Musique concr?te and first experiences making short films, Cahen developed in his early videos the key principles which have characterised his oeuvre: a narrative approach scarce in words that relies on the montage of images and music, an interest in the passage from still to moving image, the use of slow-motion to heighten the perception of the otherwise unseen ⁄⁄ more

Before the ZKM - Project 99,9% and Art in the Hall Building 1980–1994 :: The exhibition reflects the historical situation on the IWKA grounds by way of artistic positions from the period prior to its being converted into the Center for Art and Media. IMAGINING MEDIA@ZKM :: For its twentieth anniversary, the ZKM | Center for Media and Art Karlsruhe will present, its best artistic productions in a lavishly planned review beginning on 10 October 2009. In its research institutes, more than 500 visiting artists from around the world have produced a great number of highly regarded works, which following their presentation in Karlsruhe, have been honored worldwide in biennales, festivals, and exhibitions thereby decisively contributing to shaping the face of media art for two decades. The show aims at no less than reconstructing the international development of media art based on the best productions from the ZKM.
