Doping has become a permanent threat to professional sport – and, with the increase in performance, what about everyday life? The new technological developments for increasing the capacities of body and brain hardly appear to be on the wane. The freedom of the citizen’s of our society to not only make themselves “fit”, but to consistently increase their own abilities, cannot be withdrawn.  But what, exactly, are the objectives here? The conference spotlights the possible impact of “Brain and Body Enhancement” on sport, on everyday culture and on various media and art. One of the key questions to be addressed in this connection will focus on the ways in which such new technologies may lead, where appropriate, to tenable social practices.
