Tosca Pirates

Live transmission of the video-streams,
edited live by three VJs, of the opera ″Tosca″,
by Giacomo Puccini from the Bavarian State Opera, Munich,
Round of talks during the interval,
in the ZKM_Media Theater, 8 p.m., free admission

Information auf Deutsch

The popular opera ″Tosca″, by Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, staged with an all-star cast for the Bavarian State Opera by Luc Bondy, is to be divulged to us by three young VJs. The live recording of the video track of the performance will be alienated, live, mixed with a creative use of found footage by the video artists and then shown in large-format projections both in Munich and at the ZKM_Media Theater. By contrast, Puccini’s emotional, highly charged and, at times, evidently filmically vivid music and outstanding operatic voices will be transmitted in the original. This extended, medial evening of opera will be punctuated by an on-site discussion of media.
