Fri-Sun, October 09-11, 2009: Lets Celebrate Together, 20 Years of ZKM! :: Anniversary weekend with exhibitions, attractions, and actions. ZKM invites everyone to its twentieth birthday party. The opening of the major anniversary exhibition IMAGINING MEDIA@ZKM in the ZKM | Media Museum, two symposia, a 3D festival, and a large visitors' festival form the framework for the ZKM birthday celebration. Awaiting you are light and music adventures, an overview of the most important ZKM productions with international guest artists, highlights in 3D developments in Karlsruhe, projections on the outer façade, and a DJ party with The Allophons. Along with the mega exhibition on three stories of the ZKM | Media Museum, the 42-hour festival also offers two scientific symposia on Friday and Saturday: on the preservation of media artworks—our audiovisual inheritance. The visitors' party on Sunday offers highlights, such as MobiSpray—light painting on the building, artworks, and people via cell phones. The evening program will be The Errorists. IMAGINING MEDIA@ZKM :: For its twentieth anniversary, the ZKM | Center for Media and Art Karlsruhe will present, its best artistic productions in a lavishly planned review beginning on 10 October 2009. In its research institutes, more than 500 visiting artists from around the world have produced a great number of highly regarded works, which following their presentation in Karlsruhe, have been honored worldwide in biennales, festivals, and exhibitions thereby decisively contributing to shaping the face of media art for two decades. The show aims at no less than reconstructing the international development of media art based on the best productions from the ZKM ⁄⁄ more

Experiments in Art and Technology. research@zkm :: In conjunction with its twenty-year anniversary, ZKM will open its archives. More than 1,500 videos, around 13,650 works of electroacoustic music and a selection of more than 1,000 documents can be comfortably called up and studied at viewing and listening sites and via innovative interfaces. Extended. Collection Landesbank Baden-Württemberg :: The Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW) has been a partner of the ZKM | Karlsruhe for many years. As an expansion of this partnership, the Collection Landesbank Baden-Württemberg has, additionally, collaborated with the ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art since 2005. Major sections of the Collection Landesbank Baden-Württemberg are being made available to the public in a museum show for the first time since the last, large-scale presentation "Zoom" ten years ago - The exhibition runs until October 18th, 2009 ⁄⁄ www.zkm.de/extended

Collectors' Choice I+II :: Supplemental to the first part of the exhibition "Collectors' Choice," which is already showing works from the Boros, Grässlin, and Landesbank Baden-Württemberg collections on the third floor of the Museum presented on the second floor will be works from the FER, VAF, and Weishaupt collections; thus all collections that work in cooperation with the ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art will be represented - The exhibition runs until October 18th, 2009 ⁄⁄ more

Martin Walde. Hallucigenia :: For several years, Martin Walde has succeeded with an unmistakable innovative praxis to involve exhibition viewers in his dynamic installation processes. He became internationally recognized first and foremost through his participation in Catherine David's "documenta X" (1997). <SA/JO>: MicroSonical Shining Biospheres No. 1 (2009) :: Media artists <SA/JO> (f.k.a. <sabine schäfer ⁄⁄ joachim krebs>) present their most recent "walk-in spatial-sound colored light body" for micro-acoustic animal sounds and three-dimensional LED-colored light. In creating this sound-light environment, they were inspired by the latest breakthroughs in neuro-scientific aesthetics and bionics, among other things - The exhibition runs until January 10th, 2010 ⁄⁄ more

ZKM_PanoramaLab :: A focus of the research and production activities of the ZKM | Institute for Visual Media is the development of innovative hardware and software solutions for artistic projects. Due to the great interest and approval these presentations have met with, now a permanent forum for the PanoramaTechnology will be established at ZKM: the ZKM_PanoramaLab.
