:::::: ZKM EVENTS :::

Ius Lucis - Concert for two ensembles and electronics :: Ius Lucis is a composition by Valerio Sannicandro for two instrumental ensembles in two distinct, electronically connected spaces. The music by the ensembles will be played into the other space, where the ensemble is not located, in real-time transformation and thereby electronically processed, live. The listeners move between the two spaces thus hearing different versions of the music, leading to overlapping memories. The sound moves constantly between the concert spaces: the spatial acoustics itself thus becomes a defining moment ⁄⁄ more

The SWR 2 celebrates art's 1.000.046th birthday with a live concert by Stefano Gianotti and broadcast at the HfG Studio, 9.30 p.m. ⁄⁄ more

"Belichtungen" - Contemporary Jazz Music :: The music by composer Moritz von Woellwarth is based on images and memories. As a flexible ensemble, the Abstrakt Orchestra realizes musical ideas and improvisational concepts in the areas of modern Jazz, free improvisation, and new music ⁄⁄ more

Medium Religion :: Today's religious movements operate predominantly with images that can be spread across the entire world in a flash by means of contemporary mass media. The electronic picture media video and television have become the chosen media for religious propaganda as they are capable of being produced and distributed especially fast. The exhibition Medium Religion aims at demonstrating this medial aspect of religion using current examples of religious video propaganda and the work of contemporary artists. Shown will be, among other things, suicide confessions from religiously inspired terrorists, religious propaganda TV series, and documentaries on new religious sects and faith communities. Participating artists [amongst others]: Adel Abdessemed, Oreet Ashery, Maja Bajevic, Dias & Riedweg, Barbad Golshiri, Vitali Komar, Beryl Korot and Steve Reich, Korpys/Löffler, Sang-Kyoon Noh, Nira Pereg, robotlab, Anri Sala, Michael Schuster, Wael Shawky - The exhibition runs until April 19th, 2009 ⁄⁄ www.zkm.de/mediumreligion

The Discreet Charm of Technology. Arts in Spain :: Exploring the ambiguous relationship between art and technology, this exhibition suggests the existence of another form and another content inherent in the practice of media art. Technology as an instrument gives way to technique as a procedure that artists use to create visual poetics, sensory and formal explorations, and conceptual developments. The discreet charm of media art lies precisely in this potential to blaze new trails. Participating artists [among others]: Antoni Abad, Bressemer & Alia, Daniel Canogar, Equipo 57, Joan Fontcuberta, Jodi, Enrique Marty, Victor Nubla, Wolf Vostell - The exhibition runs until February 15th, 2009 ⁄⁄ more

Beginning with an exhibition of concrete and constructive art in Zagreb in 1961, New Tendencies quickly developed to a dynamic movement triggering an international Op-Art boom.
