The Karlsruhe Silent Film Festival, which began as a “weekend of silent
films”, is now taking place for the fifth time. In the context of this
year’s festival, the student cultural center will present two films »Das
Wachsfigurenkabinett« and »Bergkatze« along with the two
main films »Metropolis« and »Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari«. These
films will be screened at the Studentenhaus and at ZKM.
Live music will accompany all of the films. Joining several well-known established
ensembles will also be something new to discover and hear this year: The
ensemble »Sorpresa« led by Felix Treiber, former member of the Badische
Staatskapelle, will play an arrangement of original chamber music by Gottfried
Huppertz.
