ZKM has already organized a number of interesting events in the context of the German Year of Science 2006, organized by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research, focusing on information technology and its multifaceted applications. We continue this involvement with the symposium »Information technology revolution, between everyday and future«.
The symposium, a cooperation between ZKM and the Faculty of Informatics at the University of Karlsruhe, takes place from 16 to 17 November 06 at ZKM and at the University of Karlsruhe. It will look at past and future developments in the area of information technology. The first day will concentrate on the topic of the history of information technology. Special focus will be on the location Karlsruhe. On the second day of the event, focus will be on information technology applications and products that define our everyday life now and in the future, from GPS to mobile telephones to games. Films about Kurt Gödel and a presentation on Konrad Zuse are special highlights offered on the evening of 16 November.
