Wilhelm Krull

Following appointments as German Academic Exchange Service Lector at Oxford University and having occupied leading positions in the Wissenschaftsrat and at the Administrative Headquarters of the Max Planck Society, Dr. Wilhelm Krull has been Secretary General of the Volkswagen Foundation since 1996. In addition to his professional activities in the field of science policy and the promotion of research he exercises numerous functions in national, foreign and international organisations.
Wilhelm Krull is currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Göttingen and Chairman of the University Council in Constance; a member of the Scientific Commission of the State of Lower Saxony and of the Board of Trustees of the Max Planck Institutes of Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, of Biochemistry in Martinsried, of Psychiatry in Munich, of the Albert Einstein Institute of Gravitation Physics in Potsdam, of the Board of Trustess of the Fraunhofer Institute of Systems Engineering in Karlsruhe, of the Centre for Science Management in Speyer and of the Governing Board of the Central European University in Budapest. As a Member of the Advisory Council of the Association of German Foundations and of the Governing Council of the European Foundation Centre, Krull is active on behalf of foundations at the national and international level ][


Armin Linke

Armin Linke was born in 1966 and lives in Milan. As a photographer and filmmaker he is working on an ongoing archive about human activity and the most varied natural and man-made landscapes. He tries to document scenes where the boundary between fiction and non-fiction blurs or becomes invisible. Group Exhibitions (selected):

Scott Mc Kiernan

With over 30 years of wide-ranging experience in photojournalism, Scott Mc Kiernan built a successful career as a photojournalist shooting page-one stories for major magazines such as Paris Match, Stern, Newsweek and People Weekly. While being an active shooter, he branched into editing before founding ZUMA Press and becoming the agent to some of the most respected photojournalists in the world. Representing over 900 professionals worldwide, plus dozens of large dailies, ZUMA Press is now the largest independent picture agency and wire service.
Mc Kiernan launched two new initiatives in 2004: DOUBLEtruck Magazine, the ultimate showcase of cutting-edge photojournalism; and zReportage.com, the high-end, premium photojournalism service for stories that need to be told. In 2005, he co-founded FOTONITE.org, a monthly gathering for photojournalists and a non-profit organization to help aspiring photojournalists.
Mc Kiernan is a BFA graduate of Hartford Art School in Connecticut. He also studied at the School of Visual Arts, the Rhode Island School of Design and completed postgraduate work at the News School of Social Research. Mc Kiernan remains an active shooter today.


Klaus Neumann-Braun

Klaus Neumann-Braun read Sociology, Social Pedagogics, Psychology, Education and Ethnology at the universities of Tübingen and Freiburg and was awarded a doctorate from the University of Freiburg in 1982 for his dissertation on “Der Beginn der Kommunikation zwischen Mutter und Kind”; in 1993 he obtained his university teaching qualification at the University of Oldenburg for his post-doctoral thesis on “Rundfunkunterhaltung. Zur Inszenierung publikumsnaher Kommunikationsereignisse” (Tübingen: Narr Vlg. 1993); from 1992 to 2005 he was engaged in teaching and research during his professorships of sociology and market, consumer and communication research at the universities of Trier, Frankfurt/Main and Koblenz-Landau as well as his guest professorship at the University of Vienna; since 2005 he has been Professor of Media Science and head of the Institute of Media Science at the University of Basel. The main focus of his teaching and research work is on culture, media and communication sociology; analyses of popular culture; audience, effectiveness and reception research; legal media protection for children and young people; and interpretative media research methods.
