Das Museum für Neue Kunst

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MNK) has been accommodated since December 1999 in courts 1 and 2 of the former munitions factory that now houses the Center for Art and Media (ZKM) in Karlsruhe. Distributed over three levels with total floor space exceeding 7,000m2, the museum shows a selection of works on permanent loan from the important Baden-Württemberg private collections Siegfried Weishaupt, Froehlich, FER and Grässlin. Contemporary art trends are highlighted in changing focal presentations. Important examples of European and American art offer an insight into the development of art from 1960 up to the present. At the same time, such overviews emphasize the distinctive profile of the four private collections.
