Dr. Andreas F. Beitin

Dr. Andreas F. Beitin was born in 1968 in Uetersen. In Münster he studied art history, applied cultural studies, and contemporary and recent history. After his studies Andreas F. Beitin worked for several years at an international art consulting company. Parallel to his activities there, he worked on his dissertation on the motif of the scream in twentieth-century German painting and graphics. Andreas F. Beitin first came to ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art in 2004, where he worked in different scientific and curatoral positions. As of April 1st, 2010, Dr. Andreas F. Beitin is the new Head of ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art.

During his activities at ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art, Dr. Beitin has published many scientific texts and worked on numerous exhibitions as curator, co-curator, and project manager, responsible for both concept development and organization, for example, in the internationally acclaimed exhibitions "Light Art from Artificial Light", "Paul Thek in the Context of Today's Contemporary Art" or, among others, in the large anniversary exhibition at ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art’s "just what is it ...." Recently, he has been the curator of the first large solo museum exhibition in Germany of the internationally successful artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset.
